Keep the Conversation Going: Verizon Messages Lets You Text From Almost Anywhere
Unifying the ways you communicate with everyone in your network is no easy task. With Verizon Messages, things just got a whole lot easier.
If there is a word meant to describe the future, it’s “connected.” Telegraphs, telephones, personal computers and now smartphones and tablets—all of these have been milestones in communication, parts of the vision for a connected future. And though we are as connected as ever, the tools we use to communicate aren’t always in sync. With that in mind, Verizon is launching Verizon Messages, a cloud-based, multi-device communication app that creates a seamless messaging experience.
Picking up where its current Messages app leaves off, this update fully embraces the growing “always connected” sensibilities of its customers. Previously, you were only able to read, respond to and sync messages on your tablet when connected to a Wi-Fi network or Mobile Hotspot. Now, you can catch up on text messages on your tablet, PC or phone, with any kind of connectivity—including the Verizon Wireless network.
By signing in to your My Verizon account on your PC, you can send and receive text messages via the Internet, as well as photo and video messages. But it’s 2013, and we don’t sit still for long—it’s time for work, class or the gym. Downloading the app, with its new, expanded functionality, allows you to move your conversations seamlessly to your Android or iOS device without skipping a beat. Conversations can be started, finished and started again, all while you’re out and about.
Now your phone needs to charge, or you just want to laugh at your favorite cat photos for a while from the comfort of your desk or couch. Verizon Messages also works the other way, allowing conversations started on your smartphone to pick up instantly on your tablet or PC. Using this app on multiple devices doesn’t mean communication confusion, though, since it uses your primary phone number to identify you. No matter where you’re sending your messages from, everyone will be able to recognize you.
Find what you’re looking for
Verizon Messages offers a handy Content Finder feature. Can’t remember who texted you a link to that new Mexican restaurant? Just tap the content icon at the top of your conversation list to view all messaging content (including things sent to you and the stuff you sent) like links and photos. You can find that taco joint faster than you can say “Fiesta!”
Make it personal
These aren’t the only new tricks up this app’s sleeve, either. With the ability to auto-reply, you can personalize your messages by adding a signature, your favorite quote or a short note. And since Verizon Messages is cloud-based, messages will be synced for 90 days.
Group messaging is another much-anticipated function, giving you the ability to involve more of your friends in one conversation. When viewing a group message, one click of the header bar at the top of the screen will display all of that conversation’s recipients. You can later change sent group messages so responses only come to you, and you can add or remove recipients easily by creating a new conversation.
And those are just some of the exciting features. Check out what else you can do with Verizon Messages.
Verizon Messages is more than just another way to communicate with your friends, families and coworkers. It’s a way to stay connected, no matter where you are.
